Kustom Entertainment
THESE ARE QUESTIONS TO ASK EACH DJ COMPANY YOU CALL.
(A live viewing is the only true way to gauge the quality of the DJ service. Not
all DJs are the same and you should be left with a comfortable feeling after your viewing. At the viewing, look for the following things: Does the DJ look confident and organized? Is he/she suitably dressed? Can you understand what the DJ
says into the microphone? Is the soundsystem delivering clear sound? Is the DJ smoking/drinking in plain view of the people? Is the DJ drinking alcohol? What is
the overall appearance of the DJs setup - is it neat and tidy or a mess? Are the guests enjoying themselves? Any reputable DJ company will welcome your request for a viewing.)
- WILL THE DJ WE PREVIEW BE THE ONE ASSIGNED TO PLAY AT OUR WEDDING RECEPTION, AND IS THIS GUARANTEED?
(If not, then there is really no point in viewing or considering this company. This is also an indication if the company has confidence in their DJs.)
- WHAT IS GUARANTEED ON THE BOOKING AGREEMENT?
(All points discussed on the telephone must also be guaranteed on the booking agreement or contract. Examine your contract for confirmation of all times including the DJs arrival time and the "play until" time, event location, lighting included, access to equipment i.e. microphone for the program, background/dinner music if applicable, the DJs name, specific customer requests, advance preparation
by the DJ, meetings, and anything pertinent to the success of the event.)
- WHEN DOES THE COMPANY ASSIGN THE DJ?
(Preparation by the DJ is critical to the success of the event. The company should at the latest assign the DJ to your contract when they have received your booking deposit. If the DJ is assigned only a few days prior to your wedding, the DJ will not have time to prepare.)
- MAY WE MEET WITH THE DJ PRIOR TO THE WEDDING?
(Successful preparation is done between the customer and the DJ and is best to do in person. All aspects of the DJs service need to be discussed including any creative or "interactive" activities planned by the DJ. Most companies will have
a form that you will go through with the DJ that will include the first three dance selections, cake cutting information, bouquet and garter information, and any other specific details. Take some time and do a thorough preparation with your
DJ. A good time frame is one month prior to the wedding.)
WHY SHOULD YOU GO TO ALL THIS TROUBLE? CONSIDER THAT MUSIC CREATES MOOD AND THAT
THE DJ IS CREATING THE MOOD FOR THE EVENING BEFORE YOU EVEN GET THERE. HIS OR HER MUSIC WILL AFFECT THE ENTIRE EVENING AND YOU NEED TO HIRE SOMEONE YOU CAN TRUST TO CREATE THE RIGHT MOOD FOR YOU AND YOUR GUESTS. NO ONE HAS A GREATER IMPACT
ON THE OVERALL SUCCESS OF YOUR WEDDING THAN THE DJ. PEOPLE REMEMBER THE LAST PART OF THE EVENING AND THAT MEANS THEY REMEMBER THE DJ. ANY COMPANY THAT WELCOMES
THESE SIMPLE CRITERIA WILL MERIT YOUR CONSIDERATION. FOLLOW UP WITH LIVE VIEWINGS AND SELECT THE DJ BASED ON YOUR VIEWINGS. PLEASE BE PREPARED TO TAKE SOME TIME AND DO SOME RESEARCH TO FIND YOUR DJ. KAPERS WILL ENDEAVOUR TO MAKE YOUR WEDDING RECEPTION FILLED WITH JOY AND PLEASANT MEMORIES.
